Our Story

Queensland Master Builders Golf Club

The Q.M.B.A. Golf Club has a proud and enduring history, beginning with its inaugural meeting held in Brisbane in September 1958. That historic gathering brought together a group of passionate individuals, including Manuel Hornibrook, Noel Kratzmann, Jim Scott, Gordon Neilson, Des Carey, Doug Bowmaker, Bill Cunningham, Bob Wildon, and Tom Parry.

At the time, Tom Parry, then President of the Queensland Master Builders Association (Q.M.B.A.), chaired the meeting. From that day forward, the Club was officially formed, with Noel Kratzmann elected as the first President and Jim Scott as the Club’s first Captain and Acting Secretary.

While official records from 1958 to 1967 are limited, one thing has remained constant: the unwavering commitment of our office bearers and members. Their dedication has been instrumental in the Club’s continued success and growth.

Over the years, the Club has honoured several individuals with Life Memberships in recognition of their outstanding service. These include John Mitchell, Max Upham, Gordon Neilson, and Des Carey, whose contributions helped shape the spirit and tradition of the Q.M.B.A. Golf Club.
